Temporal correlations in the simplest measurement sequences

Lucas B. Vieira et al.

Summary: In the context of conducting the same measurement on a physical system at different times, temporal correlations and memory requirements are investigated. The study delves into deterministic sequence generation based on internal dimensions or memory of the system, with numerical analysis of probabilistic behavior in classical and quantum scenarios. Findings in the classical case suggest a nontrivial universal upper-bound for sequence realization probability, while indications show no such bound in the quantum case.

Loophole-Free Interferometric Test of Macrorealism Using Heralded Single

Kaushik Joarder et al.

Summary: In this experiment, conducted using a sophisticated single-photon experimental setup, we comprehensively addressed the crucial loopholes in macrorealism experiments and successfully demonstrated clear violations of the Leggett-Garg inequality (LGI) and Wigner's form of the Leggett-Garg inequality (WLGI). The experimental results are consistent with quantum mechanical predictions and confirm the noninvasiveness of our implemented negative result measurement.

Fisher Information Universally Identifies Quantum Resources

Kok Chuan Tan et al.

Summary: Both classical and quantum definitions of Fisher information accurately identify resourceful quantum states in general quantum resource theories, showing that all quantum resources offer an advantage in metrology. Bounds on this advantage are provided, along with a simple criterion to test the usefulness of different resources in estimating unitarily encoded parameters. Furthermore, Fisher information can also identify the dynamical resourcefulness of quantum operations.

Computing secure key rates for quantum cryptography with untrusted devices

Ernest Y-Z Tan et al.

Summary: DIQKD offers the strongest form of secure key exchange by utilizing input-output statistics of devices for information-theoretic security. A framework based on semidefinite programming is presented in this study, providing reliable lower bounds on the asymptotic secret key rate for any QKD protocol using untrusted devices and extending to other DI cryptographic tasks.

Self-testing quantum systems of arbitrary local dimension with minimal number of measurements

Shubhayan Sarkar et al.

Summary: Bell nonlocality as a resource for device-independent certification schemes has been extensively studied, and a self-testing protocol for the maximally entangled state of any local dimension using the minimum number of measurements possible has been proposed, which can achieve unbounded randomness expansion and log 2d perfect random bits with only one random bit required for encoding measurement choice.

Metrological complementarity reveals the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox

Benjamin Yadin et al.

Summary: The EPR paradox is a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics that can be applied to enhance precision measurements through the concept of steering, which involves predicting measurement results on one side of a quantum-correlated system based on measurements on the other side. The authors propose a new general criterion for detecting steering based on quantum Fisher information, expanding the understanding of steering in state-of-the-art experiments.

Universal and operational benchmarking of quantum memories

Xiao Yuan et al.

Summary: The study introduces a universal benchmark for quantifying the effectiveness of quantum memory in various operational settings, accurately measuring its robustness, the number of noiseless qubits required for synthesis, its potential to speed up tasks, and its performance in non-local games. This quantifier is analytically computable for low-dimensional systems and can be efficiently bounded in experiments without tomography. The research demonstrates the benchmark on IBM Q hardware and applies it to evaluate error-suppression techniques and quantify non-Markovian noise, providing a practical and universally relevant measure of a memory's capability to preserve quantum advantage.

Summary: The importance of preserving entanglement in quantum computation and quantum information processing is studied in this paper. Two measures, composition and robustness, are proposed to quantitatively characterize the ability of a process to preserve entanglement. Through experimental feasibility, the method introduced in this study is applicable to a wide range of physical processes and provides new tools for quantifying entanglement preservability.

Quantum steering as a witness of quantum scrambling

Jhen-Dong Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, the concept of quantum information scrambling is explored in qubit systems, introducing a scrambling witness based on temporal quantum steering. The use of temporal steerable weight as a measure allows for determining whether a channel exhibits scrambling behavior, with a focus on the equivalence between the Choi state and the pseudodensity matrix. The scrambling witness for unitary qubit channels is justified by showing that it vanishes when the channel is non-scrambling.

Self-testing of binary Pauli measurements requiring neither entanglement nor any dimensional restriction

Ananda G. Maity et al.

Summary: The study introduces a self-testing protocol for certifying binary Pauli measurements by employing the violation of a Leggett-Garg inequality, without the need for costly and fragile entanglement resources or stringent assumptions on the type of measurements. This approach offers a reliable method for characterizing quantum devices without dimensional restrictions.
