Fe-carbon dots enhance the photocatalytic nitrogen fixation activity of TiO2@CN heterojunction

Kang Li et al.

Summary: FeN-CDs/TiO2@CN photocatalyst exhibits excellent nitrogen fixation activity, attributed to efficient electron transfer from CDs to active centers, tight heterogeneous interfaces between carbon dots/TiO2 and graphic carbon nitride, and the coexistence of anatase and rutile TiO2. FeN-CDs is confirmed as the active site for nitrogen fixation, with a proposed mechanism for photo-induced charge separation and nitrogen photofixation on FeN-CDs/TiO2@CN.

Photodriven Disproportionation of Nitrogen and Its Change to Reductive Nitrogen Photofixation

Jianhua Yang et al.

Summary: This study achieved the photodriven disproportionation of nitrogen into ammonia and nitrate under visible light and ambient conditions using Fe-doped TiO2 microspheres in water. Loading plasmonic Au nanoparticles in the doped TiO2 microspheres allowed the transformation of the disproportionation reaction into completely reductive nitrogen photofixation, with the generated H2O2 effectively decomposed by the Au nanoparticles.

The fabrication of 1D/2D CdS nanorod@Ti3C2 MXene composites for good photocatalytic activity of hydrogen generation and ammonia synthesis

Benteng Sun et al.

Summary: The study prepared unique 1D/2D CdS nanorod@Ti3C2 MXene composites photocatalysts, achieving suitable band structure and superior electronic reduction capability of CdS to enhance photocatalytic performance. Ti3C2 MXene NSs with good electronic transfer capability prevented carrier recombination, while the multilayer structure provided more reactive sites. The CdS@Ti3C2-15 composite showed excellent photocatalytic performance, with higher AQE and long-term stability.

Type II cuprous oxide/graphitic carbon nitride p-n heterojunctions for enhanced photocatalytic nitrogen fixation

Kang Zhang et al.

Summary: The combination of p-type Cu2O with n-type CN to create p-n heterojunction photocatalysts improves nitrogen reduction performance and cyclic stability, with higher quantum efficiency and NH3 production activity. An in-depth exploration of the energy band structure of the photocatalyst rationalizes the enhanced photocatalytic fixation performance in the p-n system, guiding the future design of improved nitrogen reduction photocatalysts.

Single-Atom High-Valent Fe(IV) for Promoted Photocatalytic Nitrogen Hydrogenation on Porous TiO2-SiO2

Shiqun Wu et al.

Summary: This study presents enhanced photocatalytic nitrogen fixation on single-atom Fe-modified TiO2-SiO2 material, achieving a high ammonia generation rate without sacrificial agents or cocatalysts. The formation of a photoinduced hole-trapping polaron on the Fe dopant leading to the high-valent Fe(IV) species is confirmed, which plays a crucial role in water oxidation and promoting N-2 hydrogenation. This research provides insights into the coupling mechanism between photocatalytic N-2 hydrogenation and water oxidation through a doping strategy, guiding the rational design of photocatalysts for ammonia synthesis.

In situ Irradiated XPS Investigation on S-Scheme TiO2@ZnIn2S4 Photocatalyst for Efficient Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Libo Wang et al.

Summary: Efficient hierarchical photocatalysts, such as the S-scheme core-shell TiO2@ZnIn2S4 heterojunction, have gained attention for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. The improved performance is attributed to the inhibited recombination of photogenerated charge carriers induced by the S-scheme heterojunction, as well as the large specific surface areas and abundant active sites. In situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, work function calculation, and electron paramagnetic resonance measurements confirm the S-scheme photogenerated charge transfer mechanism.
