Metallated ionic liquids, known as hydrometallatranes, were synthesized by reacting triethanolamine with metal chlorides and acetates. The structure and properties of these liquids were confirmed using various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. It was found that they had potential inhibitory or stimulating effects on specific pathogenic bacteria. This study provides valuable insights into the synthesis and applications of these metal-based compounds.
Metallated ionic liquids (molten salts), hydrometallatranes (HMA), have been synthesized by the reaction of triethanolamine with Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) chlorides and acetates at a ratio of 1:1 and 2:1. The structure of HMA is confirmed by FT-IR, NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and mass spectrometry. The crystal structure of HMA with Ni and Cd acetates is determined by X-ray diffraction. The data of thermal analysis for HMA are presented. The calculations (in silico) reveal that HMA are bioavailable, synthetically accessible, and drug-like compounds (according to Lepinsky's rule). The effect of HMA on the growth of bacteria is studied. It was shown for the first time that the synthesized HMA can be used as potential inhibitory/stimulating agents (depending on the nature of the metal) for pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Yersinia enterocolitica, and Yersinia pestis.
