Calabi-Yau CFTs and random matrices

Nima Afkhami-Jeddi et al.

Summary: In this study, numerical methods are employed to explore the spectrum of local operators in two-dimensional conformal field theories defined on Calabi-Yau targets at large volume. By focusing on K3 and the quintic examples, it is shown that the spectrum, averaged over a region in complex structure moduli space, exhibits the same statistical properties as the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of random matrix theory.

Narain to Narnia

Nathan Benjamin et al.

Summary: The study generalizes the holographic correspondence between topological gravity and abelian Chern-Simons theory in three dimensions, showing that the central charge must equal the critical central charge defined by the chiral algebra. For toroidal orbifolds, the holographic correspondence is extended to correlation functions of twist operators.

Free partition functions and an averaged holographic duality

Nima Afkhami-Jeddi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the torus partition functions of free bosonic CFTs in two dimensions, showing that integrating over Narain moduli defines an ensemble-averaged free CFT and the averaged partition function can be reinterpreted as a sum over topologies in three dimensions. This leads to the conjecture that an averaged free CFT in two dimensions is holographically dual to an exotic theory of three-dimensional gravity with U(1)(c)xU(1)(c) symmetry and a composite boundary graviton. Additionally, general constraints on the spectral gap of free CFTs are obtained for small central charge c, Narain compactifications with a large gap are constructed, and an analytic bootstrap functional corresponding to a single self-dual boson is found using the spinning modular bootstrap.

Comments on the holographic description of Narain theories

Anatoly Dymarskya et al.

Summary: This study discusses the holographic description of Narain U(1)(c) x U(1)(c) conformal field theories, proposing a hypothesis that the density of states of any Narain theory in the large central charge limit is bounded by the density of states of U(1) gravity. Testing this proposal using chiral lattice CFTs and CFTs based on quantum stabilizer codes reveals new bounds on quantum stabilizer codes and the exponentially small density variance in the central charge limit.

Harmonic analysis of 2d CFT partition functions

Nathan Benjamin et al.

Summary: The text discusses the application of harmonic analysis theory to study the partition functions of two-dimensional conformal field theories, decomposing them into eigenfunctions of different moduli spaces and exploring their relevance to AdS(3) gravity. It emphasizes that the local operator spectrum is fully determined by a specific subset of degeneracies.

Statistical coupling constants from hidden sector entanglement

Vijay Balasubramanian et al.

Summary: String theory predicts that the couplings of nature are derived from dynamical fields and may have extra sectors. Tracing over extra sectors can result in the visible sector being in a mixed state, with seemingly irreducible variance in coupling constants. By including this variance in experimental data fits, it can help distinguish scenarios and expand the reach for new physics by considering the interplay between energy range and precision of experiments.
