Lipid-Activatable Fluorescent Probe for Intraoperative Imaging of Atherosclerotic Plaque Using In Situ Patch

Jinrong Zheng et al.

Summary: The surgical removal of atherosclerotic lesions is commonly used and effective, with the potential to visualize plaque extent during surgery having significant implications for outcomes. Fluorescence imaging and the in situ attachment of lipid-activatable probes show promise for rapid and precise localization of plaques, enhancing the ability to delineate atherosclerotic plaque for surgical purposes.

An intelligent probe with dual-emission in water and oil for lipid droplet specific imaging in human fibrocalcific aortic valvular leaflet

Shufen Li et al.

Summary: Lipid droplets (LDs) have been identified as potential markers for studying and diagnosing valvular heart disease. However, conventional imaging techniques are unable to accurately locate LDs in pathological tissues. In this study, a LDs-specific probe called ECPID was developed. ECPID has the unique feature of single-excitation but dual-emission in both oil (520 nm) and water (628 nm), allowing accurate imaging of LDs in cells and tissues. This novel approach provides insights into the pathologic processes of human fibrocalcific aortic valvular leaflet and opens up new possibilities for studying valvular disease.

Lipid Droplet-Specific Probe for Rapidly Locating Atherosclerotic Plaques and Intraoperative Imaging via In Situ Spraying

Mangmang Sang et al.

Summary: The study introduces an aerosol spraying technique of a lipid droplet-specific probe to precisely locate atherosclerotic plaques during surgery. This method allows for stable imaging of the plaque within 5 minutes, accurately delineating the plaque margins and size, with weak interference from background signals. The intraoperative fluorescence imaging via in situ delivery of the lipid droplet-specific probe shows promise for effective clinical application.

Revealing the Viscosity Changes in Lipid Droplets during Ferroptosis by the Real-Time and In Situ Near-Infrared Imaging

Baoli Dong et al.

Summary: The study revealed the changes of lipid droplets viscosity during ferroptosis using a novel viscosity-sensitive near-infrared fluorescent probe. The experiment results showed a significant increase in lipid droplets viscosity during ferroptosis, while there was nearly no change in cells treated with ferroptosis inhibitors simultaneously.
