Studies on the decay modes of superheavy nuclei with Z=120

C. Nithya et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the competition between alpha-decay and spontaneous fission (SF) of Z = 120 isotopes with 283 <= A <= 350. The dominant decay mode is found to be alpha-decay, with smaller possibility of cluster radioactivity.

SPONTANEOUS DOUBLE ALPHA DECAY: FIRST EXPERIMENTAL LIMIT AND PROSPECTS OF INVESTIGATION

V. Tretyak

Summary: This study discusses the potential for nuclear decay with simultaneous emission of two alpha particles, and the experimental limits on such decays. The results show that the prospects of experimental observation of 2 alpha decay are very pessimistic, based on theoretical estimations and experimental data.

A new empirical formula for α-decay half-life and decay chains of Z=120 isotopes

G. Saxena et al.

Summary: Experimental data of 398 nuclei in the range 50 <= Z <= 118 were used to propose a new formula (QF) and modify Tagepera-Nurmia formula (MTNF) for predicting alpha-decay half-lives accurately. The formulas were effective for both favoured and unfavoured alpha-decay and showed minimal uncertainty and deviation compared to other empirical formulas.

Theoretical investigation on double-α decay from radioactive nuclei

K. P. Santhosh et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation on the concept of double-alpha (2 alpha) decay has been conducted using the modified generalized liquid drop model, revealing that 2 alpha emission is more probable than 8 Be emission. Predictions on half-lives for various isotopes have been made, showing promising chances for experimental investigations on 2 alpha decay in the future.

Radioactive decay of 288-296Og via heavy cluster emission within a modified generalized liquid drop model with a Q-value-dependent preformation factor

K. P. Santhosh et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the radioactive decay of superheavy element oganesson isotopes via heavy cluster emission, identifying stable clusters with specific proton and neutron magic numbers. The model accurately predicts experimental data, showing potential for guiding future studies in this field.
