Sodium modified Fe-Mn microsphere catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of light olefins

Hewei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, sodium modified Fe-Mn microsphere catalysts were synthesized using one-pot solvothermal method and impregnation. The effects of Mn and Na promoters on the morphology, electronic state and catalytic performance of the catalysts were evaluated. The results showed that Mn promoter enhanced the selectivity of light olefins, while Na promoter improved the catalytic activity.

Revealing the activity of different iron carbides for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Fangxu Lu et al.

Summary: Research on iron-based catalysts doped with SiO2 or Al2O3 has shown that adjusting the formation of iron carbides can enhance the activity of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactions. Characterization results using techniques such as XPS and CO-DRIFTS revealed that SiO2 or Al2O3 affects the electronic state of iron atoms and promotes the formation of Fe-Si or Fe-Al interactions on the surface of iron powder, which in turn plays a key role in the formation of the active phase ε-Fe2C. The content of ε-Fe2C is found to be more beneficial to activity compared to the traditionally recognized active phase χ-Fe5C2 in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactions.

Direct Conversion of Syngas to Light Olefins through Fischer- Tropsch Synthesis over Fe-Zr Catalysts Modified with Sodium

Zhunzhun Ma et al.

Summary: In high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, the promoting effects of Na and Zr on Fe-based catalysts are mainly reflected in enhanced CO dissociative adsorption, reduced hydrogen adsorption, and increased light olefin selectivity. Na can facilitate the carbonization of catalysts and protect iron carbide, providing more active sites for C-C coupling, while Zr can improve HTFT activity by decreasing hematite crystallite size and stabilizing the active phase.

Tuning the crystallite size of monoclinic ZrO2 to reveal critical roles of surface defects on m-ZrO2 catalyst for direct synthesis of isobutene from syngas

Xuemei Wu et al.

Summary: The study explored the effects of crystallite size on the physicochemical properties and surface defects of pure monoclinic ZrO2 catalysts for isobutene synthesis. It was found that ZrO2 with small crystalline size showed higher CO conversion and isobutene selectivity, while samples with large crystalline size preferred to form dimethyl ether (DME) instead of hydrocarbons. This research provides insights into the regulation of active sites in ZrO2 catalysts for CO hydrogenation reactions.

Dynamic Evolution of Fe and Carbon Species over Different ZrO2 Supports during CO Prereduction and Their Effects on CO2 Hydrogenation to Light Olefins

Jie Huang et al.

Summary: The study revealed the dynamic evolution of active Fe species and carbon species during CO pre-reduction of Fe-Zr catalysts on CO2 hydrogenation to light olefins using different ZrO2 supports. The m-ZrO2 support promoted the formation of more chi-Fe5C2 species, contributing to a high yield of light olefins in products. Tuning the physicochemical properties of supports could enhance the iron catalyst activity for CO2 hydrogenation to olefins.

Mn-Decorated CeO2 nanorod supported iron-based catalyst for high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of light olefins

Xian Wu et al.

Summary: CeO2 nanorods were used as the support for Fe/CeO2 and Fe/CeO2@xMnO(2) catalysts in high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of light olefins. The CeO2 support donated electrons to Fe species, promoting CO dissociation, while the synergistic effect between Mn and Ce improved oxygen mobility on the catalyst surface, enhancing selectivity to light olefins. However, excess Mn hindered contact between CeO2 and Fe species, impacting electron transfer and reducing CO conversion rates. The best hydrocarbon distribution for light olefins was achieved over the Fe/CeO2@0.2MnO(2) catalyst.
