How energy service companies moderate the impact of industrialization and urbanization on carbon emissions in China?

Saina Zheng et al.

Summary: Energy service companies (ESCOs) play an important role in mitigating carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during urbanization and industrialization in China. Regression analysis conducted on data from 29 provinces in China reveals that ESCOs have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between urbanization, industrialization, and CO2 emissions, especially in areas with lower industrialization levels.

Air pollution reduction and climate co-benefits in China's industries

Haoqi Qian et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that significant co-benefits can be achieved in China's industrial sectors through interventions like energy intensity improvement, scale structure adjustment, and electrification. Targeted environmental policies towards industrial firms, taking into account firm heterogeneity, can accelerate China's sustainable transformation.

Changes in the PM2.5-related environmental health burden caused by population migration and policy implications

Anqi Lin et al.

Summary: This study aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of changes in the environmental health burden caused by PM2.5 pollution in China, focusing on the impact of intra-provincial urbanization migration and inter-provincial migration. The research showed significant differences in environmental health burden across different provinces and proposed policy suggestions for managing the migration-induced burden effectively.

Impact of high-speed rail on road traffic and greenhouse gas emissions

Yatang Lin et al.

Summary: The study shows that the construction of new high-speed rail routes in China has a significant impact on reducing road traffic and carbon emissions, primarily through substitution effects. The environmental benefits mainly come from replacing highway goods transport with conventional railways, and it is projected that under greener electricity conditions, high-speed rail in China can contribute even more to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector.
