Development of rapid and selective epoxidation of α-pinene using single-step addition of H2O2 in an organic solvent-free process

Mohamad Faiz Mukhtar Gunam Resul et al.

Summary: This study presents a significant improvement in the oxidation process of alpha-pinene using environmentally friendly H2O2 with high atom economy and 100% selectivity to alpha-pinene oxide. The use of tungsten-based polyoxometalates as catalysts allowed for the epoxidation of alpha-pinene in the absence of solvents, achieving nearly 100% selectivity within a short reaction time.

Synthesis of trans-limonene bis-epoxide by stereoselective epoxidation of (R)-(+)-limonene

Abdul Rehman et al.

Summary: This study focused on the synthesis of trans-limonene bis-epoxide (trans-LBE) and investigated the effects of reaction temperature, mole ratio, and reaction time on the yield. The results showed that a 97% yield of trans-LBE could be achieved at 60 degrees Celsius after 5 minutes of reaction time with a 1:2 mole ratio of (R)-(+)-limonene to NBS.
