A boryl-migratory semipinacol rearrangement

Dong-Hang Tan et al.

Summary: A boryl-migratory semipinacol rearrangement of alpha-hydroxyallylboronates and alpha-hydroxypropargylboronates triggered by diverse halogen-, oxygen-, sulfur- and selenium-containing electrophiles was reported in this study. The method provides a mild and facile access to organoborons bearing valuable functionalities, with the sigma (C-B) hyperconjugation believed to be the key factor leading to the observed exclusive chemoselectivity and enhanced reactivity. The synthetic utilities of the formed products were demonstrated.

Diverse synthesis of C2-linked functionalized molecules via molecular glue strategy with acetylene

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors demonstrated a photoredox-catalyzed synthesis of C2-linked molecules using gaseous acetylene under mild conditions. The strategy not only enables the formation of two new C-C bonds, but also creates two C-H bonds in mechanistically distinct ways, offering a reliable and safe approach for incorporating acetylene into fine chemicals.

Cobalt-Catalyzed Markovnikov-Type Selective Hydroboration of Terminal Alkynes

Jieping Chen et al.

Summary: A cobalt-catalyzed Markovnikov-type hydroboration method has been developed for the synthesis of alpha-alkenyl boronates with good regioselectivity and atom economy. The new ligand used with the cobalt hydride catalyst facilitates the selective insertion of terminal alkynes into metal hydride bonds. This protocol shows excellent tolerance to functional groups and delivers valuable alkene derivatives efficiently.

Origins of Internal Regioselectivity in Copper-Catalyzed Borylation of Terminal Alkynes

Takumi Tsushima et al.

Summary: The highly internal-selective borylation of terminal alkynes under copper catalysis was achieved by diminishing boron-Lewis acidity and introducing ligand-derived steric bulk around a copper center. The use of an anthranilamide-substituted boron moiety enabled internal regioselectivity and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling activity to be compatibly achieved, providing a direct and universal approach to variously substituted branched alkenylboron compounds.

One-Pot and Two-Chamber Methodologies for Using Acetylene Surrogates in the Synthesis of Pyridazines and Their D-Labeled Derivatives

Maria S. Ledovskaya et al.

Summary: This study proposed two novel synthetic paths for the construction of 3,6-disubstituted pyridazines using acetylene surrogates. By utilizing different reaction modes and substituting reactants, a range of highly deuterated pyridazines were synthesized, while quantum chemical modeling was used to investigate substituent effects in both synthetic pathways.

Explosion behaviors of hybrid C2H2/CaC2 dust in a confined space

Shi-xiang Song et al.

Summary: The explosion characteristics of C2H2 gas and C2H2/CaC2 dust gas-solid two-phase mixture were studied, showing that the explosion severity and risk of C2H2 gas were enhanced by adding CaC2 dust. In the oxygen atmosphere, the C2H2/CaC2 hybrid explosion was divided into two stages, with the first stage being more serious in terms of explosion risk. The solid residues of the hybrid explosion differed in composition depending on the atmosphere, with different compounds detected due to different combustion conditions. Through analysis of explosion mechanism and chemical experiments, the factors influencing the hydrolysis process and explosion behavior of the mixture were systematically explored.
