NRQCD analysis of charmonium production with pion and proton beams at fixed-target energies

Chia-Yu Hsieh et al.

Summary: In this study, hadroproduction of J Iv and v(2S) at fixed-target energies was analyzed within the framework of non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD). A new determination of the color-octet long-distance matrix elements (LDMEs) was obtained using data from both pion and proton-induced processes. The contributions from qq and color-octet processes were found to be significantly enhanced at lower energies, with good agreement between pion-induced J Iv production data and NRQCD calculations using the newly obtained LDMEs. The sensitivity of pion-induced charmonium production data to the gluon density of pions was highlighted, favoring pion PDFs with relatively large gluon contents at large x values.

Global QCD Analysis of Pion Parton Distributions with Threshold Resummation

P. C. Barry et al.

Summary: In a global QCD analysis, different treatments of valence quark distribution lead to significant differences at large x values, with resummation boosting the total momentum carried by gluons to approximately 40%. The redistribution induced by resummation increases the gluon contribution to the pion mass to approximately 40 MeV.

Gluon parton distribution of the pion from lattice QCD

Zhouyou Fan et al.

Summary: In this study, the x-dependent pion gluon distribution from lattice QCD using the pseudo-PDF approach is determined for the first time. The results show that the dependence of the pion gluon parton distribution on lattice spacing and pion mass is mild across different lattice spacings and pion masses. Comparisons with other global fits are also made to validate the findings.

The asymmetry of antimatter in the proton

J. Dove et al.

Summary: Quark-antiquark annihilation measurements confirm the asymmetry between down and up antiquarks within protons. The majority of a proton's mass is in the form of quark kinetic and potential energy, as well as gluon energy from the strong force. The presence of more down antiquarks than up antiquarks in protons suggests the need for further study to understand this antimatter asymmetry.

A new extraction of pion parton distributions in the statistical model

Claude Bourrely et al.

Summary: A new analysis method is proposed to extract the pion's parton distribution functions using a statistical model framework, which reduces the number of parameters and considers the specific properties of the pion. By using Drell-Yan data induced by pi(-) to determine the parameters of the statistical model approach, good agreement with experimental data and predictive power of the new pion PDFs are confirmed.

Large-momentum effective theory

Xiangdong Ji et al.

Summary: The large-momentum effective theory (LaMET) offers a new way to extract parton physics from proton properties through Lorentz symmetry. It provides an alternative to the standard formalism of partons by allowing for the extraction of various partonic observables through effective field theory matching and running. Future lattice QCD calculations could further enhance our understanding of hadronic structure and experimental data related to proton parton distribution.

Pion and kaon ⟨x3⟩ from lattice QCD and PDF reconstruction from Mellin moments

Constantia Alexandrou et al.

Summary: This study presents a calculation of the pion and kaon Mellin moments extracted directly in lattice QCD using a three-derivative local operator. The results are converted to the MS scheme and evolved at a scale of 2 GeV with three-loop expressions in perturbation theory. Excited states contamination is evaluated to determine the systematic error and additional analyses are performed to reconstruct the x-dependence of the pion and kaon PDFs.
