An Accurate Characterization Method for Integrated Polarization Converters

Sander F. G. Reniers et al.

Summary: The proposed characterization method for polarization converters significantly improves accuracy and is demonstrated experimentally on the IMOS platform, showing excellent polarization conversion efficiency. The design and fabrication process are discussed, with a 4-micron device achieving impressive polarization conversion results. Comparing the traditional characterization method with the new 4-port method, the accuracy is greatly improved.

Current-Driven Domain Wall Dynamics in Ferrimagnetic Nickel-Doped Mn4N Films: Very Large Domain Wall Velocities and Reversal of Motion Direction across the Magnetic Compensation Point

Sambit Ghosh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spin-transfer torque-driven domain wall motion in ferrimagnetic manganese nickel nitride films, where fine adjustment of nickel content can achieve magnetization and angular momentum compensation. Large domain wall velocities, approaching 3000 m/s, are measured near the angular momentum compensation point, offering insights for the development of new magnetic memories and logic devices. The reversal of domain wall motion direction, observed when crossing the compensation composition, is related to the change in angular momentum direction with respect to spin polarization, as confirmed by ab initio band structure calculations.

An investigation of the interface and bulk contributions to the magneto-optic activity in Co/Pt multi-layered thin films

Figen Ece Demirer et al.

Summary: An experimental study on the magneto-optic interaction between light and perpendicularly magnetized ferromagnetic thin-film multilayers was conducted. Different contributions to the magneto-optic activity from interface and bulk layers were separately determined, showing consistent results with previous literature despite using thin-films. Models were proposed to explain the interface phenomena between Co and Pt layers and the induced magnetization in Pt layer.
