Echoes from classical black holes

Hyat Huang et al.

Summary: This paper studies the echoes of free massless scalar from dyonic black holes in Einstein-Maxwell gravity extended with the quasitopological electromagnetic term. These asymptotically flat black holes all satisfy the dominant energy condition. It is found that for suitable parameters, the effective potential can have double peaks and consequently, echoes of quasinormal modes arise. In general, the echo frequency associated with the initial wave packet released inside the two peaks is about twice the frequency of the one released outside.

No black hole bomb for D-dimensional extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black holes under charged massive scalar perturbation

Jia-Hui Huang

Summary: This study analytically investigates the superradiant stability of asymptotically flat D-dimensional extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black holes under charged massive scalar perturbation. It applies an analytical method previously proposed by the author to prove the absence of a black hole bomb and the superradiant stability of D-dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom black holes under charged massive scalar perturbation.

Superradiant instability of extremal black holes in STU supergravity

Zhan-Feng Mai et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the superradiant (in)stability of extremal multicharge static black holes in the STU supergravity model. We show that the frequency of quasibound states is complex and derive the corresponding superradiant condition. By examining the effective potential of the Schrodinger-like equation, we find trapping-well configurations with either a single peak or double peaks. Numerical calculations reveal the unstable quasibound states and the deviation of charged black holes from the RN black hole. The results indicate that the superradiant stability of extremal RN black hole is a fine-tuning result in the framework of the STU supergravity model.
