Methodology of Preconcentration and Determination of Silver in Aqueous Samples using Cloud Point Extraction

Summary: A cloud point extraction (CPE) procedure was developed for the selective extraction of silver, with key factors such as type and quantity of salting-out agent, silver ion, temperature, heating time, and surfactant volume being examined. The method showed a linear analytical curve under optimal conditions, with detection limit (LOD), quantification limit (LOQ), and enrichment factor (E) of 0.05 μg L-1, 0.15 μg L-1, and 200, respectively. The proposed approach was validated using flame atomic absorption spectrometry and spectrophotometry, and successfully applied to different environmental samples.

Development of a gas-controlled deep eutectic solvent-based evaporation-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction approach for the extraction of pyrethroid pesticides from fruit juices

Summary: In this study, a new mode of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction called gas-controlled-deep eutectic solvent-based evaporation-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction was proposed for the determination of pyrethroid pesticides in fruit juices. By evaporating chloroform and releasing droplets of the extractant, the analytes were extracted into the aqueous phase. The method was optimized and validated, and successfully applied to fruit juice samples, which were found to be free of the selected pesticides.

The article focuses on recent modifications to improve the environmentally friendly procedure, including the use of ultrasonic energy, vortex, air agitation, and more ecofriendly solvents. The coupling of SFODME with solid phase extraction increases the selectivity and efficiency of the preconcentration procedure.

The method showed satisfactory linearity, low detection limits, and good precision, with promising applications in food safety.

By optimizing the conditions, a broad linear range, suitable coefficient of determination, and low limits of detection and quantification were obtained.

Combining a liquid-liquid extraction with successive air assisted liquid-liquid microextraction for the analysis of phytosterols present in animal based butter and oil samples

Summary: This study proposed a method combining elevated temperature liquid-liquid extraction with successive air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction for the extraction of phytosterols in cow milk butter and animal oil samples. The method showed high enrichment factors and extraction recoveries, low detection limits and relative standard deviations. The developed method was successfully applied for the analysis of phytosterols in butter and oil samples in Tabriz, Iran.

Chemically modified rice husk as an effective adsorbent for removal of palladium ions

Summary: The bio-matrix of rice husk was modified and used for preconcentration of Pd2+ prior flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination. The material was characterized and evaluated for its adsorption capacity under different parameters, achieving a maximum capacity at optimum conditions. The method showed good detection limits and dynamic analytical range, with the sorbent capable of regeneration for multiple cycles without significant reduction in adsorption capacity.
