The Effect of Circulating Fluidised Bed Bottom Ash Content on the Mechanical Properties and Drying Shrinkage of Cement-Stabilised Soil

Yuanlong Wang et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the influence of circulating fluidised bed bottom ash (CFB-BA) content on the mechanical properties and drying shrinkage of cement-stabilised soil. The results show that CFB-BA can effectively enhance the unconfined compressive strength of the specimen and reduce the amount of cement in the soil. Moreover, the addition of CFB-BA can significantly decrease the drying shrinkage of cement-stabilised soil.

Effect of Recovered Silicon Filler Inclusion on Mechanical and Tribological Properties of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Composite

K. Vishal et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of recovered silicon fine wafer fillers on the friction behavior of PTFE matrix. The addition of 5 wt% silicon filler significantly increased the hardness of PTFE composite, while reducing the friction coefficient and specific wear rate. However, silicon concentration beyond 3% did not greatly improve the anti-friction performance of PTFE/Silicon composite.

Superior mechanical performance of in-situ nanofibrillar HDPE/PTFE composites with highly oriented and compacted nanohybrid shish-kebab structure

Tong Liu et al.

Summary: Hierarchical structures play a significant role in determining the mechanical properties of polymer materials. This study successfully fabricated in-situ nanofibrillar high-density polyethylene/polytetrafluoroethylene composites with a highly ordered and compacted nanohybrid shish-kebab structure. The synergistic effect of oscillatory push-pull shear flow field and PTFE led to superior strength and toughness in the composites, with significant improvements in tensile strength, Young's modulus, and impact strength compared to neat HDPE. The proposed strategy shows promise for the preparation of polymer materials with enhanced mechanical properties.
