This review focuses on the tribological performance of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, commonly known as Teflon) derived blends and composites at different grades, and details the optimized casting process and rational design principles. The desired wear rate and excellent thermal conductivity of actual Teflon components are demonstrated through bird's eye view, and the engineering properties of Teflon for future prospects and applications as emerging high-performance thermoplastics are revealed.
In the present review, we consolidated polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, popularly known as Teflon) derived blends and composites emphasized on tribological performance as a function of various grades. Based on the principle of rational design new class of an advanced materials and dimensionally scaled nano fillers, optimized casting process of Teflon derived composites and blends is revealed in detail. Deployment of actual Teflon component must exhibit the desirable wear rate with excellent thermal conductivity was mapped by bird eye view. Complete Teflon process to engineering properties have been disclosed for the future prospects and application developments as emerging high-performance thermoplastic.
