Orthogonal Multiplexed NIR-II Imaging with Excitation-Selective Lanthanide-Based Nanoparticles

Houben Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, we designed core-shell structured down-shifting nanoparticles (DSNPs) based on Nd3+, Ho3+, and Er3+, and successfully achieved orthogonal three-color emissions in the NIR-II window. By programmed administration of the DSNPs, anatomical rotation imaging can be performed with high contrast and resolution.

NIR-II Fluorescent Biodegradable Nanoprobes for Precise Acute Kidney/Liver Injury Imaging and Therapy

Xiaoguang Ge et al.

Summary: We developed novel NIR-II emitting and therapeutic BPQDs with excellent biodegradability vivo, providing a promising candidate for NIR-II FL imaging and ROS scavenging. Adjusting the size of nanoparticles, BPQDs can specifically accumulate in the kidney or liver. A low dosage of BPQDs can effectively protect tissues from ROS-mediated damage in acute kidney and liver injury, real-time monitored by responsive NIR-II fluorescence imaging.

X-ray-activated persistent luminescence nanomaterials for NIR-II imaging

Peng Pei et al.

Summary: This study presents a series of X-ray-activated, lanthanide-doped nanoparticles with extended emission lifetime in the second near-infrared window (NIR-II), providing high-contrast bioimaging in deep tissue. The core-shell engineering enables tunable NIR-II persistent luminescence, outperforming fluorescence and allowing accurate imaging with high contrast.
