11B Nuclear Spin-Electron Spin Interactions in 11B MAS NMR Spectra of Paramagnetic Metal Borohydrides

Jorgen Skibsted et al.

Summary: Isotropic and anisotropic couplings between the B-11 nuclear spin and the electron spin of paramagnetic electrons were observed in B-11 MAS NMR spectra of alpha-Pr(BH4)(3) and LiCe(BH4)(3)Cl. The isotropic and anisotropic paramagnetic interactions were found to be approximately 5 and 4 times larger for alpha-Pr(BH4)(3) compared to LiCe(BH4)(3)Cl, which mainly reflects the difference in electron spin for the Pr3+ and Ce3+ ions and the relative distances between ions in the compounds.

Improvement of hydrogen dehydrogenation performance of lithium amide pyrolysis by ball milling with magnesium

Bogu Liu et al.

Summary: Li-N-H system is a promising candidate for hydrogen storage, and LiNH2-Mg composite prepared by ball milling can improve the purity and amount of H-2 in the products. Mg in the composite can effectively absorb gaseous byproducts like NH3 and N-2 during LiNH2 pyrolysis, leading to the desorption of H-2 and absorption of N by Mg. After re hydrogenation, H-2 is stored in Li2MgN2H2 and LiH, showing a different cyclic mechanism compared to the first dehydrogenation process.
