Molecular Dynamics Study of Star Polymer Melts under Start-up Shear

Dong-Dong Wang et al.

Summary: It has been found that the unique relaxation property of multi-arm star polymers leads to unusual rheological behaviors. The stress-strain response of multi-arm star polymer melts differs from that of star polymers with a small number of arms, and a double stress overshoot appears when the flow strength is comparable to the relaxation time of the star polymers.

Coarse-grained soft-clusters remain non-diffusing in the melt state

Qingzhi Zou et al.

Summary: The study focused on the melts of 3-dimensional dendritic beads-springs, revealing that soft-clusters composed of more than 200 beads cannot diffuse or relax above the glass transition temperature, although relaxation can happen on the level of beads. Each soft-cluster can only rotate in the cage formed by neighboring soft-clusters, and the non-diffusing state would transform to the liquid state at exceptionally high temperature.

The effect of THF and the chelating modifier DTHFP on the copolymerisation of β-myrcene and styrene: kinetics, microstructures, morphologies, and mechanical properties

Dominik A. H. Fuchs et al.

Summary: The statistical anionic copolymerisation of beta-myrcene and styrene in cyclohexane was studied, showing that modifiers tetrahydrofuran (THF) and 2,2-di(2-tetrahydrofuryl)propane (DTHFP) significantly influence reactivity ratios and copolymer microstructure. DTHFP, in particular, has a greater impact on the composition and morphology of the resulting copolymers compared to THF.
