Measuring recoiling nucleons from the nucleus with the future Electron Ion Collider

F. Hauenstein et al.

Summary: The study of short range correlated nucleon-nucleon pairs is important for understanding the nuclear ground state. This study simulated quasielastic scattering using the planned Electron Ion Collider (EIC) detector configuration and showed the capability of detecting knocked-out and recoiling nucleons. The results suggest that the EIC can provide valuable data for investigating nucleon correlations.

Progress and opportunities in backward angle (u-channel) physics

C. Ayerbe Gayoso et al.

Summary: Backward angle (u-channel) scattering provides complementary information for hadron spectroscopy and structure studies, with recent progress focusing on measuring and understanding high energy reactions with baryon charge exchange in the backward angle. Different theoretical models and methods have been used to describe backward angle measurements, with planned future measurements aiming to address outstanding questions and challenges in u-channel physics.

Deep Exclusive Electroproduction of π0 at High Q2 in the Quark Valence Regime

M. Dlamini et al.

Summary: The research team reported measurements of exclusive neutral pion electroproduction cross section off protons at large x(B) and Q(2) values, showing the dominance of amplitude for transversely polarized virtual photons in this kinematic range. The data are well described by calculations based on transversity generalized parton distributions coupled to a helicity flip distribution amplitude of the pion, providing a unique way to probe the structure of the nucleon.

Transition distribution amplitudes and hard exclusive reactions with baryon number transfer

B. Pire et al.

Summary: This article discusses the general properties and physical interpretation of baryon-to-meson and baryon-to-photon transition distribution amplitudes (TDAs), suggesting that these non-perturbative objects are a convenient tool to explore baryon structure at the partonic level. It also provides an overview of hard exclusive reactions and explores experimental opportunities at various facilities.

Ruling out Color Transparency in Quasielastic 12C(e,e′p) up to Q2 of 14.2 (GeV/c)2

D. Bhetuwal et al.

Summary: The study measured nuclear transparency in C-12(e,e'p) quasielastic scattering and found that proton color transparency does not depend on the specific Q(2) values in this reaction. The results impose strict constraints on models of color transparency for protons.

Unitarity constraints on meson electroproduction at backward angles

J. M. Laget

Summary: At large virtuality Q(2), the coupling to meson production channels helps explain the large cross section of omega and pi(+) meson electroproduction at backward angles without disagreeing with the Regge pole model. Additionally, it explains why the node at u ~ -0.15 GeV2 disappears at moderate virtuality Q(2). Predictions are also made for pi(0) meson electroproduction.
