The study of artificial intelligence for predicting land use changes in an arid ecosystem

Yu Yang et al.

Summary: This study utilized artificial intelligence methods to investigate land-use/cover change in arid ecosystems, identifying climate change, ecological flooding, groundwater conditions, and human activities as key driving factors of LUCC. The results indicated that increasing natural flooding can prevent vegetation degradation, but precipitation increase cannot compensate for evaporation losses.

Consistency and Accuracy of Four High-Resolution LULC Datasets-Indochina Peninsula Case Study

Hao Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated multiple land use/land cover datasets in the Indochina Peninsula and found differences in their consistency and accuracy. The findings provide a reference for data selection in land use studies in the region and reliability assessment of multi-source land use/land cover datasets in other areas.

A REVIEW OF GLOBAL LAND COVER MAPS IN TERMS OF THEIR POTENTIAL USE FOR HABITAT SUITABILITY MODELLING

Anastasia Linyucheva et al.

Summary: Recent increase in available land cover maps have led to a need for comparing their differences and estimating their applicability for specific research purposes. The study found significant variations in estimates of different land cover types among maps, with Copernicus CGLS-LC100 and ESA CCI-LC maps being the most suitable for evaluating potentially suitable habitats.

Modeling mangrove responses to multi-decadal climate change and anthropogenic impacts using a long-term time series of satellite imagery

Saied Pirasteh et al.

Summary: This study focused on the effects of climate change and anthropogenic impacts on mangroves in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman over a 35-year period. The results showed that sea-level rise was the main driver of changes in spatial extents and biomass of mangroves, although its influence was embedded in the larger temporal climate context of the region. The study also revealed a significant decline in rainfall amounts, precipitation index, and freshwater runoff volumes since 1998, shaping the overall spatiotemporal development pattern of mangrove structures.

Analysis on Land-Use Change and Its Driving Mechanism in Xilingol, China, during 2000-2020 Using the Google Earth Engine

Junzhi Ye et al.

Summary: The study utilized Google Earth Engine and Landsat satellite images to analyze the land-use changes in Xilingol over the past 20 years using the random forest algorithm. Results showed an increase in vegetation area and expansion of built-up land, with climate and economic factors identified as main drivers of these changes.

Vulnerability of Fishery-Based Livelihoods to Climate Change in Coastal Communities in Central Vietnam

Phuong T. A. Huynh et al.

Summary: In the context of increasing climate change, fishery-based livelihoods in coastal communities are significantly affected, especially in developing countries. Using an indicator-based vulnerability assessment framework, this study examined household-level vulnerability of fishery-based livelihoods in Central Vietnam. The results indicated that vulnerability to climate change among fishing households depends on their characteristics, conditions, and access to livelihood diversification opportunities.

Monitoring Land Use Changes and Their Future Prospects Using GIS and ANN-CA for Perak River Basin, Malaysia

Muhammad Talha Zeshan et al.

Summary: Natural landscapes have been significantly altered by human activities, especially in areas affected by climate change and population growth, like countries in Southeast Asia. Understanding the impact of land use and land cover changes is crucial for sustainable development. Monitoring and modeling LULC changes using GIS and remote sensing technology can provide valuable insights for future planning.

Land-Use and Land-Cover Changes in Dong Trieu District, Vietnam, during Past Two Decades and Their Driving Forces

Thi-Thu Vu et al.

Summary: Significant changes in land use and cover have occurred in Dong Trieu district from 2000 to 2019, with a decrease in barren land and an increase in built-up areas and orchards. Factors such as geography, population density, and distance from main roads have influenced the changes in different land types.

GLC_FCS30: global land-cover product with fine classification system at 30m using time-series Landsat imagery

Xiao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel global 30m land-cover classification system for 2015 by combining Landsat imagery and high-quality training data, achieving high accuracy. The GLC_FCS30-2015 product provides more detailed spatial information and a wider variety of land-cover types compared to other existing products, making it a valuable resource for global land-cover analysis.
