The relationship between diversity and productivity from a three-dimensional space view in a natural mesotrophic lake

Ai-Ping Wu et al.

Summary: The relationship between diversity and productivity in a natural mesotrophic lake was studied by investigating submerged plants along water depth. Results showed a negative correlation between plant biodiversity and community productivity in three-dimensional space views, while DPR patterns at each water depth varied due to disturbances from biotic and abiotic factors. The study also found that species number decreased and submerged species migrated in response to lake eutrophication, highlighting the need for quick actions to control eutrophication and preserve the lake's ecological functions.

Green Infrastructures and the Consideration of Their Soil-Related Ecosystem Services in Urban Areas-A Systematic Literature Review

Pia Minixhofer et al.

Summary: Although urban soils are impacted by human activities, Green Infrastructure measures can potentially restore lost soil functions. However, current research primarily focuses on soil's contribution to stormwater management, lacking a comprehensive assessment of the ongoing loss of soil-related Ecosystem Services.

Are soil sealing indicators sufficient to guide urban planning? Insights from an ecosystem services assessment in the Paris metropolitan area

Lea Tardieu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the relationship between soil sealing indicators and ecosystem services (ES) indicators and finds that the majority of ES variations are not well captured by soil sealing indicators. It suggests the need for a finer, ES-based diagnosis in urban planning to consider the environmental and societal impacts of urban sprawl.
