A sustainable cultivation of microalgae using dairy and fish wastes for enhanced biomass and bio-product production

D. Vidya et al.

Summary: This study assessed the growth, biomass, and bio-constituents of different types of microalgae grown in dairy wastewater and fish waste as nutrients. The results showed that a medium supplemented with 50% dairy waste significantly increased the growth and bio-constituent content in most algae, while 10% dairy waste showed maximum growth in one type of algae. Despite decreased chlorophyll content, some algae showed potential for lipid sequestration and high value pigment accumulation when grown in waste nutrients.

Optimization of culture conditions for enhanced Dunaliella salina productions in mixotrophic culture

Ebrahim Gonabadi et al.

Summary: Dunaliella salina is a green microalga known for its high production of lipid and beta-carotene. This study investigated the fatty acid composition and beta-carotene production of D. salina cultivated under different mixotrophic conditions. Results showed that glucose, meat peptone, titanium dioxide nanoparticles, pH 7.5 and 5% NaCL were key factors affecting beta-carotene production.

Enhanced Hierarchical Control Framework of Microgrids With Efficiency Improvement and Thermal Management

Yanbo Wang et al.

Summary: This article introduces an enhanced hierarchical control framework for microgrids, which consists of two control levels to achieve active thermal management, improve operation efficiency, and mitigate harmonic resonance. By incorporating droop control strategy and resonance mitigation strategy in the secondary control level, the proposed framework demonstrates good performance in both autonomous mode and grid-connected mode.

Enhanced β-carotene and Biomass Production by Induced Mixotrophy in Dunaliella salina across a Combined Strategy of Glycerol, Salinity, and Light

Willian Capa-Robles et al.

Summary: Optimizing the mixotrophic conditions with glycerol, salinity, and light intensity can significantly enhance the growth and beta-carotene yields of Dunaliella salina. Increasing light intensity and non-isosmotic salinity can further improve beta-carotene productivity in the microalga.

Yixing Sui et al.

Summary: Strains of Dunaliella salina microalgae are of interest due to their ability to accumulate beta-carotene and produce high-quality protein. However, the protein quality in terms of essential amino acids could be improved, and the strain demonstrates a higher umami compound concentration under red light.

Effect of Light Intensity and Wavelength on Biomass Growth and Protein and Amino Acid Composition of Dunaliella salina

Yixing Sui et al.

Summary: This study optimized the production of biomass, protein, amino acids, and carotenoids from Dunaliella salina using a two-stage cultivation approach with different LED light intensities. The results showed that under red LED light, the biomass productivity of D. salina increased significantly, along with an increase in protein concentration and productivity. This indicates that red light has a positive impact on the growth and nutritional yield of D. salina.
