Facile oxidation reaction to produce monolayered highly crystalline nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots

Reece T. Lawrence et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple post synthesis oxidation step was found to significantly improve the overall crystallinity and stability of nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots. The oxidized nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (Ox-NGQDs) produced were uniform monolayered nanostructures with increased visible absorbance, showing potential for a wide range of light harvesting applications.

Enhanced photocatalytic performance for phenol degradation using ZnO modified with nano-biochar derived from cellulose nanocrystals

Yin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, phenol degradation was effectively achieved using CCNC/ZnO photocatalysts, prepared by regulating ZnO with nano-biochar derived from CNCs. The conjugated graphitic structures of CCNC reduced the band gap of ZnO, promoting the separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, leading to improved photodegradation efficiency for phenol. The efficiency for phenol photodegradation was comprehensively influenced by a combination of factors such as the ratio of photocatalyst, initial phenol concentration, catalyst dose, and pH value.

Expanding current applications and permitting the analysis of larger intact samples by means of a 7 mm CMP-NMR probe

Paris Ning et al.

Summary: Comprehensive multiphase NMR technology combines the study of all phases using a single probe, with the introduction of a larger 7 mm probehead offering advantages such as reduced experiment time, more feasible C-13 detection, and the ability to analyze larger samples. This new 7 mm version extends the range of applications and sample types that can be studied, particularly when 4 mm probes cannot provide adequate signal-to-noise ratio or when intact samples are too large.
