Role of the axial U(1) anomaly in the chiral susceptibility of QCD at high temperature

S. Aoki et al.

Summary: The chiral susceptibility is commonly used to study the QCD phase transition, but the breaking of axial U(1) symmetry has little impact on the transition. In two-flavor QCD, the breaking of axial U(1) dominates the chiral susceptibility at high temperatures.

Chiral phase transition in three-flavor QCD from lattice QCD

Lorenzo Dini et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze the pseudocritical behavior and chiral phase transition temperature of three-flavor QCD using lattice quantum chromodynamics. The results show the occurrence of a second order chiral phase transition at zero quark masses and determine the chiral phase transition temperature at a finite lattice spacing. Moreover, the analysis suggests that the extrapolated chiral phase transition temperature in three-flavor QCD is below 90 MeV.

Correlated Dirac Eigenvalues and Axial Anomaly in Chiral Symmetric QCD

H-T Ding et al.

Summary: Novel relations between Dirac eigenvalue spectrum derivatives with respect to quark mass and correlations among eigenvalues were introduced, with lattice QCD results showing the impact of light quark mass on the eigenvalue spectrum and manifestation of axial anomaly in meson correlation functions.

On the order of the QCD chiral phase transition for different numbers of quark flavours

Francesca Cuteri et al.

Summary: The study investigates the nature of the QCD chiral phase transition using unimproved staggered fermions, identifying the chiral critical surface and utilizing tricritical scaling to extrapolate to the chiral limit. Initial evidence suggests a second-order chiral transition in massless theories with N-f<=6. A reanalysis of existing data also supports tricritical scaling and the transition to second-order in approaching the continuum chiral limit.

Eigenvalue spectra of QCD and the fate of UA(1) breaking towards the chiral limit

Summary: This study investigates the fate of the anomalous U-A(1) symmetry in 2+1 flavor QCD and suggests that U-A(1) is broken at temperatures greater than or equal to T-c even when approaching the chiral limit.
