The HISPEC-DESPEC collaboration focuses on investigating the structure of exotic nuclei formed in fragmentation reactions through decay spectroscopy measurements. This paper presents preliminary results from an experiment conducted in spring 2021, with a particular emphasis on beta-decay studies in the Po-Fr nuclei in the 220 < A <230 region of octupole deformation utilizing the DESPEC setup. Ion-beta correlations and fast-timing techniques are utilized to gain insights into this challenging-to-access region.

This paper reportson first results of an experiment performed in spring 2021, with a focus on beta-decaystudies in the Po-Fr nuclei in the 220 < A <230 island of octupole deformationexploiting the DESPEC setup. Ion-beta correlations and fast-timing techniques arebeing employed, giving an insight into this difficult-to-reach region.
