Genuine activation of nonlocality: From locally available to locally hidden information

Summary: In this paper, the study focuses on the nonlocality arising from a set of orthogonal states that cannot be perfectly distinguished by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). It shows the existence of orthogonal sets that are locally distinguishable but become nonorthogonal on discarding one or more subsystems, and their nonlocality can be activated by local measurements. The paper also suggests an application called local hiding of information, where locally available information can be hidden without losing any part and can only be retrieved using entanglement once hidden.
