Construction of naphthalimide-based fluorescent amphiphilic aggregates and sensitive detection of persulfate and pyrophosphate anions

Sisi Zhang et al.

Summary: Detection of important anions is significant and challenging. A fluorescent amphiphilic molecule based on a naphthalimide derivative was synthesized and it can form aggregates in aqueous solution. The aggregates have selective fluorescence quenching responses to both persulfate (S2O82-) and pyrophosphate (P2O74-), with high sensitivity.

Luminescence Detection of Ag+ and Phosphate Ions by a Ruthenium(II) Complex-Based Multianalyte Probe: A Combined Spectroscopic, Crystallographic, and Theoretical Approach

Bhaskar Sen et al.

Summary: A bis-heteroleptic Ru(II) complex has been developed for the photoluminescence detection of phosphate and Ag+ ions in different solvents with significant PL enhancement. The PL enhancement is attributed to triazole C-H...anion H-bonding interaction for phosphate ions and unique Ag(I)-triazolide complex formation for Ag+ ion detection. Triplet state TDDFT calculations explain the PL enhancement and the probe also shows low cytotoxicity against Hela cells and can be used for intracellular Ag+ imaging.

Recent development and application of cyclometalated iridium(iii) complexes as chemical and biological probes

Hongdong Shi et al.

Summary: Iridium complexes are widely used as molecular sensors due to their rich photophysical properties, such as large Stokes shifts, long emission lifetimes, environment-sensitive emissions, and high luminescence quantum yields. This paper reviews the recent development and application of iridium complexes as probes for various substances, and discusses the outlook for iridium-based probes.

The aqueous dependent sensing of hydrazine and phosphate anions using a bis-heteroleptic Ru(ii) complex with a phthalimide-anchored pyridine-triazole ligand

Mohanraj Ramachandran et al.

Summary: This research demonstrates the selective turn-on luminescence properties of a non-luminescent metalloreceptor in CH3CN and CH3CN/H2O (6/4, v/v) upon the addition of phosphate anions and hydrazine. The metalloreceptors show excellent sensing abilities for phosphate anions and fluorescence enhancement upon the addition of hydrazine, with RtpI displaying better sensing properties compared to RtpH.

Selective sensing of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) over adenosine diphosphate (ADP), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and inorganic phosphates with zinc(ii)-dipicolylamine-containing gold nanoparticles

Lena Reinke et al.

Summary: In this study, mixed monolayer-protected gold nanoparticles aggregated in the presence of nucleotides, with the color of the solution changing from red to purple. The sensitivity was highest for ATP and decreased with ADP and AMP. The aggregation was induced by zinc(ii)-dipicolylamine-derived receptors, with interference from inorganic phosphates. The nanoparticles that were precipitated with inorganic salts redissolved when the salt concentration increased, indicating a selective response to nucleotides, particularly AMP.
