Measuring the Validity and Reliability of the Vascular Access Complication Staging and Treatment Instrument in a Pediatric Population

Genieveve J. Cline et al.

Summary: A multiphase study was conducted to establish the validity and reliability of the 2018 Vascular Access Complication Staging and Treatment Instrument in pediatric and neonatal populations. The instrument uses objective measurement criteria to assess swelling and tissue damage severity, and was perceived by nurses to be efficient and user-friendly. The results provided preliminary empirical evidence supporting the instrument's efficacy in assessing intravenous complications in pediatric and neonatal patients.

Exploring treatments for drooling in children with neurological disorders

Antonella Riva et al.

Summary: Drooling is a major issue for pediatric patients with neurological disorders, but the lack of reliable metrics for assessing treatment efficacy hinders researchers from finding the best approach. The difficulty in evaluating drooling using subjective scales has also limited the number of clinical trials in this area, highlighting the need for accurate and robust metrics to measure treatment effectiveness.
