Silica Supported Acids (SiO2-HClO4, SiO2-KHSO4) as Eco-Friendly Reuasble Catalysts for Bromination of Aromatic and Heteroaromatic Compounds Using KBr under Solvothermal and Solvent-Free Conditions

Vijay Shekar Pulusu et al.

Summary: In this study, silica supported acids like Si-KHSO4 and Si-HClO4 were explored as reusable nano green catalysts for bromination of aromatic and hetero aromatic compounds under solvothermal and solvent-free conditions. The solvent-free microwave assisted reactions exhibited striking rate accelerations compared to other protocols.

Synthesis of Secondary Monoalcohols from Terminal Vicinal Alcohols over Silica-Supported Rhenium-Modified Ruthenium Catalyst

Ben Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the selective synthesis of secondary alcohols from 1,2-alkanediol by C-O hydrogenolysis using Ru-based catalysts and 1,2-propanediol as a model substrate. The modified Ru/SiO2 catalyst with ReOx achieves improved activity. The results show that the Ru-ReOx/SiO2 catalyst preferentially converts 1-propanol to propane, leaving only 2-propanol in the liquid phase. The catalyst is reusable and the characterization of the catalyst reveals the presence of active sites on the ReOx-modified Ru metal surface.

A combination of heterogeneous catalysis and photocatalysis for the olefination of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with ketones in water: a green and efficient route to (Z)-enaminones

Jun Xu et al.

Summary: This study describes a novel aqueous reaction for the olefination of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with ketones through a combinational strategy under mild conditions using a simple and cheap catalyst to synthesize (Z)-enaminones with moderate-to-good yields. This methodology successfully combines the heterogeneous Mannich reaction with photocatalysis, providing a green and practical approach for the synthesis of potentially bioactive (Z)-enaminones with a 3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2(1H)-one skeleton.
