Benign metastatic leiomyatosis is a rare disease characterized by the proliferation of smooth muscle fibers in patients who have undergone hysterectomy, usually in locations distant from the uterus. The lungs are the most commonly affected site. These tumors have a slow growth rate and a favorable prognosis, with surgical treatment usually leading to cure.
Benign metastatic leiomyatosis is a very rare disease with less than 200 cases reported in the literature, It is a rare proliferative variant of smooth muscle fibers in places far from the uterus in patients with a history of hysterectomy, the lung being the most frequent site of these. These tumors are usually slow growing and have a favorable prognosis. Their clinical manifestations depend on the site they involve, the number and size of the tumors. Surgical treatment is usually curative.
