A novel Schiff base sensor through off-on-off fluorescence behavior for sequentially monitoring Al3+ and Cu2+

Xiaochuan Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Schiff base probe G1 was designed and synthesized. G1 exhibited a bright blue luminescence in the presence of Al3+, showing ideal selectivity and sensitivity as a fluorescence turn-on probe for Al3+. G1-Al3+ complex could also be used as a quenching probe for Cu2+. The stoichiometry of G1 with Al3+ and Cu2+ was confirmed to be 1:2, and G1 was successfully applied for monitoring target metal ions in real water samples.

Recent progresses in Schiff bases as aqueous phase corrosion inhibitors: Design and applications

Chandrabhan Verma et al.

Summary: Schiff bases (SBs) have the potential to act as corrosion inhibitors for different metal/electrolyte systems, especially when they contain polar substituents. The electron rich centers in SBs play a critical role in forming corrosion mitigating surface films through strong bonding with metallic ions.

Using fluorene to lock electronically active moieties in thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters for high-performance non-doped organic light-emitting diodes with suppressed roll-off

Lin Wu et al.

Summary: This study designed two TADF emitters SPBP-DPAC and SPBP-SPAC by modifying a less successful emitter BP-DPAC with extra fluorenes to increase intermolecular distances and attenuate electron-exchange interaction, resulting in significantly higher exciton utilization in non-doped films. The non-doped OLEDs based on SPBP-DPAC and SPBP-SPAC showed excellent maximum external quantum efficiency and negligible roll-offs at practical brightness, indicating a feasible molecular modification strategy to enhance AIE-TADF emitters' performance in OLEDs.
