Fanli Meng et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of porous and hollow MoO3 microspheres for the detection of ammonia gas. The study found that p-h-MoO3 exhibits ultrahigh responsiveness to ammonia with significant selectivity. The composition and morphology of p-h-MoO3 were characterized using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, and the sensing mechanism was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

Phosphorus-doped porous perovskite LaFe1-xPxO3-δ nanosheets with rich surface oxygen vacancies for ppb level acetone sensing at low temperature

Wenbo Qin et al.

Summary: In this study, P-doped perovskite LaFe1-xPxO3-delta with abundant Ov defects were prepared and utilized as sensors for acetone detection. The LaFe0.99P0.01O3-delta sensor exhibited excellent gas-sensitive performance, with nearly twofold improvement in response value and a detection limit at the ppb level. Electron paramagnetic resonance and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the strong correlation between the sensing characteristics and the Ov defects. Theoretical analysis revealed that P doping induced Ov defects and modulated the energy levels of the material, enhancing chemisorbed oxygen species and intermolecular interactions.

WO3-ZnFe2O4 heterojunction and rGO decoration synergistically improve the sensing performance of triethylamine

Shouli Bai et al.

Summary: In this study, rGO/WO3/ZnFe2O4 composites with different proportions were synthesized using various methods to enhance the sensing properties of triethylamine (TEA). The results showed that the ternary composite of 0.8 wt%rGO-9WO(3)-ZnFe2O4 exhibited high response and good selectivity to TEA. The sensing mechanism was proposed to be due to the synergistic effect of heterojunction interface modulation and rGO decoration. This work has significant implications for the development of ternary metal oxide based sensors.

Hierarchical kiwifruit-like ZnO/ZnFe2O4 heterostructure for high-sensitive triethylamine gaseous sensor

Shuang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical kiwifruit-like ZnO/ZnFe2O4 heterostructures were prepared and showed improved gas sensing performance with fast response/recovery time and long-term stability. The enhanced gas sensing mechanism is attributed to the intriguing architecture of the ZnO/ZnFe2O4 heterojunction with ultrathin nanosheets and abundant reactive sites. This work provides new opportunities for designing gas sensing materials through assembling multicomponent architectures.

Qualitative and quantitative recognition method of drug-producing chemicals based on SnO2 gas sensor with dynamic measurement and PCA weak separation

Hanyang Ji et al.

Summary: In this study, a solution to the problem of detecting drug-producing chemicals through dynamic measurement using semiconductor gas sensors was proposed. By utilizing techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA), k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and polynomial regression, the sensor's performance in recognizing type and concentration information was improved. The feasibility of the method was verified by using the inverse transformation of PCA, resulting in successful qualitative and quantitative recognition of various drug-producing chemicals.

Anodization of aluminum in a sealed container

Jin Zhang et al.

Summary: The pressure during sealed anodization plays a significant role in the morphology of the resulting anodic alumina, with porous alumina being formed under sealed conditions in contrast to nanotubes under normal pressure. This phenomenon is explained by the oxygen bubble mould theory, where oxygen gas is assumed to be key in the anodizing process and the volume expansion of oxygen bubbles promotes rapid upward growth of the anodic oxide.

Perovskite-structured LaCoO3 modified ZnO gas sensor and investigation on its gas sensing mechanism by first principle

Wenbo Qin et al.

Summary: LaCoO3 nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method and modified on the surface of ZnO to prepare LCO/ZnO nanometer flake materials with improved gas-sensitive response. The LCO/ZnO sensor showed significantly enhanced response to ethanol gas, shorter response time and recovery time at an optimal operating temperature of 320 degrees C. Analysis of the sensitization mechanism revealed that the improved sensing performance was attributed to the increase of surface adsorbed oxygen content and the strong catalytic oxidation activity of LCO.
