Nickel-cobalt hydroxide catalysts for the cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to epoxides

Stephany L. S. Ribeiro et al.

Summary: Nickel and cobalt bimetallic hydroxides were synthesized and used as catalysts for the cycloaddition of carbon dioxide with epoxides, showing high catalytic activity and selectivity. The NiCo-50 catalyst demonstrated excellent conversion and selectivity in the conversion of various epoxides to cyclic carbonates under optimal conditions.

Metal-Cocatalyst Interaction Governs the Catalytic Activity of MII-Porphyrazines for Chemical Fixation of CO2

Julia P. S. C. Leal et al.

Summary: A series of porphyrazines were synthesized and tested as catalysts for the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides, with M(II)Pz bearing trifluoromethyl groups showing the best conversion. The type and concentration of cocatalyst had a notable effect on reaction yields, and the interaction between metal and cocatalyst may govern the reaction rate, as suggested by experimental results.

A catalytic approach of blending CO2-activating MOF struts for cycloaddition reaction in a helically interlaced Cu(II) amino acid imidazolate framework: DFT-corroborated investigation

Amal Cherian Kathalikkattil et al.

Summary: In the field of CO2 transformation catalysis, attention has been focused on the synthesis of cyclic carbonates using zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF) and MOFs with carboxylate-capped SBUs as catalysts. A unified multifunctional framework formed by metal-centered assembly of imidazole and amino-carboxylates showed promise for CO2 transformation. The synthesized heterogeneous catalyst demonstrated high activity with minimal energy input, and was successfully reused multiple times with no significant decrease in performance.

Mn(III)-porphyrin catalysts for the cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxides at atmospheric pressure: effects of Lewis acidity and ligand structure

Bruno Noschang Cabral et al.

Summary: A series of Mn(iii)-porphyrin complexes with electron-withdrawing substituents were designed for the cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxides. The number of bromine substituents at the beta-pyrrole positions was found to correlate with catalytic activity. The non-planar distortions of the macrocycle play a crucial role in determining the catalytic activity of manganese porphyrins.
