Evaluation of the relationship between KIM-1 and suPAR levels and clinical severity in COVID-19 patients: A different perspective on suPAR

Summary: Through measuring suPAR and KIM-1 levels, the study found that these biomarkers were significantly elevated in COVID-19 patients, with higher levels of KIM-1 in severe cases and lower levels of suPAR. KIM-1 may play an important role in the endocytosis of SARS-CoV-2 and could be a potential therapeutic target in the future, while suPAR may be involved in defense mechanisms and fibrinolysis, with low levels possibly being associated with poor prognosis in the early period.
