New glass-ceramic from ternary-quaternary mixtures based on Colombian industrial wastes: Blast furnace slag, cupper slag, fly ash and glass cullet

Estefania Montoya-Quesada et al.

Summary: The aim of this research was to evaluate the production of glass ceramics using a combination of fly ash, glass cullet, blast furnace slag, and copper slag solid wastes. The study found that samples with a high Fe2O3 content were not suitable for glass-ceramic formation. The ceramic materials developed in this research exhibited good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for various applications.

Effect of Al2O3 content on the viscosity and structure of CaO-SiO2-Cr2O3-Al2O3 slags

Fang Yuan et al.

Summary: The effect of Al2O3 content on the viscosity and structure of CaO-SiO2-Cr2O3-Al2O3 slags was investigated. The results showed that within a certain range, the viscosity of the slag is significantly influenced by the Al2O3 content, and the Cr2O3-containing slag requires less Al2O3. Raman spectra revealed structural changes in the slag, and the dissolved organic phosphorus content correlated with the viscosity and Raman results.

The fiber spinnability and mixed alkaline effect for calcium magnesium aluminosilicate glasses

Sheng Li et al.

Summary: In this paper, the fiber spinnability and mixed alkaline earth effect in aluminosilicate glasses with MgO replaced by CaO were discussed. The study found that the mixed alkaline earth effect showed minima in viscosity and characteristic temperatures, but maxima in fragility and thermal expansion, which were related to increased entropy, loose network, and weak bonds, not network connectivity. The lower values for Mg end-member were attributed to higher field strength causing more disturbance to the glass structure.
