Strong Faraday Rotation Based on Localized Surface Plasmon Enhancement of Embedded Metallic Nanoparticles in Glass

Han Zhu et al.

Summary: This study reports the strong Faraday rotation in BK7 glass by embedding metallic nanoparticles through localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). The mechanism of Faraday rotation is identified as the near-field enhancement of spin-photon coupling effect in the presence of an external magnetic field. The thin-layer BK7 glass with embedded Au nanoparticles exhibits high Verdet constant, reaching 5059.7 rad T-1 m-1 at 532 nm, demonstrating excellent magneto-optical features. This work opens a new avenue for the development of subwavelength magneto-optical devices with embedded metallic nanoparticles.

Manganese-Dioxide-Coating-Instructed Plasmonic Modulation of Gold Nanorods for Activatable Duplex-Imaging-Guided NIR-II Photothermal-Chemodynamic Therapy

Ting He et al.

Summary: A plasmonic modulation strategy of gold nanorods through manganese dioxide coating has been developed for NIR-II photoacoustic/magnetic resonance imaging-guided photothermal chemodynamic therapy. The LSPR peak of gold nanorods can be tuned by adjusting the thickness of the MnO2 layer, and the MnO2 layer can degrade in the tumor microenvironment for MR imaging and chemodynamic therapy. This strategy can be applied to other metal nanomaterials for construction of a new class of NIR-II nanotheranostics.

Orbital angular momentum multiplication in plasmonic vortex cavities

Grisha Spektor et al.

Summary: The confinement of light orbital angular momentum to surfaces using plasmonics has led to new ways to generate and control plasmonic orbital angular momentum. Experimental results demonstrate the generation of a series of plasmonic vortex cavities, producing vortex pulses with increasing topological charge over time. This new approach could potentially miniaturize quantum initialization schemes and increase the torque exerted by plasmonic tweezers.
