Understanding and Improving Risk Assessment After Myocardial Infarction Using Automated Left Ventricular Shape Analysis

Jorge Corral Acero et al.

Summary: This study developed a fully automated pipeline to quantify 3D differences in end-systolic shape and contraction, which improved post-AMI risk prediction and identified shape and contraction patterns related to major adverse cardiac events (MACE) occurrence.

Deep Learning Analysis of Cardiac MRI in Legacy Datasets: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis

Avan Suinesiaputra et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a fully automated CMR analysis pipeline that leverages machine learning algorithms to extract additional information from a large-scale legacy dataset. The results showed that the proposed pipeline not only enables the automated assessment of additional measures of ventricular function but also allows the study of relationships between cardiac morphologies and future cardiac events in a large-scale population study.

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation From Axial to Short-Axis Multi-Slice Cardiac MR Images by Incorporating Pretrained Task Networks

Sven Koehler et al.

Summary: This study addresses the challenges posed by the different orientations (length, width, height) in cardiac magnetic resonance images, proposing a novel unsupervised domain adaptation method that achieves stable image transformation between different orientations through attention mechanism and cycle consistency. After training on a dataset of multi-centric patient cohort, the segmentation performance for left ventricle, myocardium, and right ventricle all showed improvement.

Volumetric parcellation of the cardiac right ventricle for regional geometric and functional assessment

Gabriel Bernardino et al.

Summary: 3D echocardiography is a valuable tool for assessing cardiac remodelling in the right ventricle, offering a method for regionally evaluating different RV volumetric regions. A proposed technique based on anatomical landmarks allows for accurate quantification and identification of specific areas within the ventricle. Additionally, a novel synthetic mesh generation algorithm was introduced to assess sensitivity to volume changes affecting different parts of the RV.

Right-left ventricular shape variations in tetralogy of Fallot: associations with pulmonary regurgitation

Charlene A. Mauger et al.

Summary: The study quantified the relationships between biventricular morphology and wall motion with pulmonary regurgitation in rTOF patients. Regional RV dilation, LV reduction, LV septal-lateral flattening, and increased RV strain were all associated with increased PRV.
