Survival in breast cancer patients with a delayed DIEP flap breast reconstruction after adjustment for socioeconomic status and comorbidity

H. Coud Adam et al.

Summary: The study showed that women undergoing delayed DIEP flap reconstruction were more likely to be of higher socioeconomic status, have higher education levels, and better health status. Even after adjusting for tumor and treatment factors, socioeconomic status, and comorbidity, the overall survival in the DIEP group remained significantly better than the control group.

Clinical utility of circulating tumor cells: an update

Antoine Vasseur et al.

Summary: The prognostic role of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) has been well established in various types of cancer, but their definitive role in diagnostic and treatment strategies is still to be defined. Current clinical research on CTCs focuses mainly on breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancer. Studies are primarily exploring treatment approaches based on CTC count or variations, as well as treatment based on the molecular characteristics of CTCs.

Survival After Breast Conservation vs Mastectomy Adjusted for Comorbidity and Socioeconomic Status A Swedish National 6-Year Follow-up of 48 986 Women

Jana de Boniface et al.

Summary: A cohort study using national data from Sweden found that breast-conserving surgery with radiotherapy resulted in better survival rates compared to mastectomy, even after adjusting for confounders such as comorbidity and socioeconomic status. This suggests that breast-conserving surgery plays a significant role in the treatment of breast cancer.
