Burnout Rate and Risk Factors among Anesthesiologists in the United States

Zhong-Hua Shi et al.

Summary: This study surveyed 3,898 American anesthesiologists and found that 59.2% were at high risk of burnout, with 13.8% meeting criteria for burnout syndrome. The research identified factors associated with burnout in anesthesiologists, including perceived lack of support in the workplace, working more than 40 hours per week, and staffing shortages. Focused interventions in the workplace may be effective in reducing burnout among anesthesiologists.
