Adherence to ESPEN guidelines and associations with postoperative outcomes in upper gastrointestinal cancer resection: results from the multi-centre NOURISH point prevalence study

Irene Deftereos et al.

Laparoscopic Versus Open Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer (LOGICA): A Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial

Arjen van der Veen et al.

Summary: In a multicenter randomized trial conducted in the Netherlands, laparoscopic gastrectomy did not show a significant advantage over open gastrectomy in terms of hospital stay, postoperative complications, and oncological outcomes for Western patients with predominantly advanced gastric cancer undergoing multimodality treatment. Both procedures demonstrated similar results in postoperative complications and oncological efficacy.

Assessment of Nutritional Status and Nutrition Impact Symptoms in Patients Undergoing Resection for Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer: Results from the Multi-Centre NOURISH Point Prevalence Study

Irene Deftereos et al.

Summary: This study investigated the nutritional status and preoperative nutrition impact symptoms of patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery in 27 Australian tertiary hospitals. Preoperative Nutrition Intervention in Patients Undergoing Resection for Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer: Results from the Multi-Centre NOURISH Point Prevalence Study

Irene Deftereos et al.

Summary: This study investigated preoperative dietetics intervention and nutrition support received by patients, as well as factors associated with these interventions. The results showed low rates of preoperative dietetics consultation and nutrition support in the population, which were associated with increased preoperative weight loss and risk of increased LOS and complications in malnourished patients.
