The essential oil of the leaves of Verbesina macrophylla (Cass.) SFBlake has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities and is toxicologically safe

Bruno Oliveira de Veras et al.

Summary: This study investigated the chemical composition and various activities of the essential oil from Verbesina macrophylla, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. The essential oil showed low hemolytic activity on human red blood cells and demonstrated safety in acute toxicity testing in animals. The results suggest potential industrial value in developing drugs with natural antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects from V. macrophylla.
