Self-assembly of Ni(II) metallacycles (a square and a triangle) supported by tetrazine radical bridges

Te Wang et al.

Summary: Two Ni(II) molecular metallacycles with different structures and magnetic properties were reported in this study. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed the square and triangle structures of these metallacycles, and the magnetic studies indicated differing magnetic behaviors due to the Ni-radical interactions.

Mn(II)/Co(II)-based metal-organic frameworks assembled by 5,5′-(1,4-xylylenediamino) diisophthalic acid and various nitrogen-containing ligands for photocatalytic and magnetic properties

Cungang Xu et al.

Summary: Three novel Mn(II)/Co(II)-based 3D metal-organic frameworks have been successfully synthesized using mixed-ligand as functionalized organic linker. These MOFs exhibited efficient photocatalytic abilities to degrade aromatic dyes, with MOFs 2 and 3 showing the best performance under UV irradiation. The possible catalytic mechanism was explored and discussed, while variable-temperature magnetic analyses indicated weak antiferromagnetic behavior between Mn(II)/Co(II) ions in these MOFs.

Vapochromism and Magnetochemical Switching of a Nickel(II) Paddlewheel Complex by Reversible NH3 Uptake and Release

Katharina M. Fuerpass et al.

Summary: The reaction of [NiCl2(PnH)(4)] with NiCl2 yields a binuclear paddlewheel complex capable of reversibly binding and releasing NH3, showing distinctive vapochromic properties and magnetochemical switching. Detailed SQUID measurements reveal that in the complex, only the Ni atom coordinated to the NH3 molecule is responsible for its paramagnetic behavior.

Chemical tuning of spin clock transitions in molecular monomers based on nuclear spin-free Ni(ii)

Marcos Rubin-Osanz et al.

Summary: This research reports a significant quantum tunnelling splitting between the two lowest electronic spin levels of mononuclear Ni complexes, with the magnetic clock transition being directly monitored through heat capacity experiments. The study also shows that the clock transition effectively suppresses intermolecular spin-spin interactions and that the quantum tunnelling splitting can be chemically tuned by modifying the ligand shell. These properties are important for realizing model spin qubits with resistance against decoherence, proper interfacing with other qubits and control circuits, and the ability to initialize them through cooling.
