Critical Roles of PIWIL1 in Human Tumors: Expression, Functions, Mechanisms, and Potential Clinical Implications

Peixin Dong et al.

Summary: PIWIL1 is specifically expressed in the testis and frequently overexpressed in tumor tissues compared with normal tissues. Its upregulation leads to tumor cell proliferation, invasion, cancer stem-like properties, tumorigenesis, metastasis, and chemoresistance, possibly through piRNA-independent mechanisms.

SALL4 stemness agent expression in oral squamous cell cancer and its clinical significance

Abderrahman Ouban

Summary: The study highlights that the expression of SALL4 in oral squamous cell carcinomas is associated with tumor grade, location, and aberrant expression of beta-Catenin. There is significant overlap in cell expression between SALL4 and beta-Catenin, suggesting a possible role of SALL4 in OSCC development and progression that warrants further investigation.
