Measurement of (n,α) and (n,2n) reaction cross sections at a neutron energy of 14.92 ± 0.02 MeV for potassium and copper with uncertainty propagation

A. Gandhi et al.

Summary: This work presents experimentally measured neutron activation cross sections for the Cu-65(n, alpha)(62m)Cu, K-41(n,alpha)Cl-38, and Cu-65(n,2n)Cu-64 reactions with detailed uncertainty propagation. The neutron cross sections were measured at 14.92 +/- 0.02 MeV incident energy, using neutrons based on the t(d,n)alpha fusion reaction. The Al-27(n,alpha)Na-24 reaction was used as a reference reaction for normalization of the neutron flux. The residues' gamma-ray spectra were detected using a pre-calibrated lead-shielded HPGe detector. The measured cross sections were compared to data from the EXFOR database, theoretical calculations using the TALYS and EMPIRE codes, and evaluated nuclear data.

Cross-section measurements of (n, 2n) and (n, p) reactions on 124,126,128,130,131,132Xe in the 14 MeV region and theoretical calculations of their excitation functions

Summary: The reaction cross-sections of several xenon isotopes under neutron irradiation at different energies were measured and compared with existing experimental data, database evaluation results, and theoretical models. This study provides first-time reported cross-section data for reactions in the 13-15 MeV energy range, contributing to the improvement of database quality.

A detailed study of nuclear structure of odd-mass Pm isotopes near N=82 shell closure

Veerta Rani et al.

Summary: A systematic study of the positive and negative parity yrast structure for the odd-mass Pm145-149 isotopes was carried out using the angular momentum projection technique in the projected shell model. Good agreement with experimental data was obtained, and the results can motivate experimentalists to look for more data. Theoretical values of transition strength ratio B(M1)/B(E2) match excellently with experimental ones.

Cross section measurements for (n,2n), (n,α), and (n,p) reactions on rhenium isotopes around 14 MeV neutrons and their theoretical calculations of excitation functions

Fengqun Zhou et al.

Summary: Cross-section data of six nuclear reactions were measured at different neutron energies using the activation technique and a high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometer. The excitation functions of these reactions were calculated from threshold to 20 MeV using the nuclear theoretical model program Talys-1.9, showing good agreement between the new measured results, previous experiments, and theoretical values.

Neutron capture reaction cross section measurement for iodine nucleus with detailed uncertainty quantification

A. Gandhi et al.

Summary: The neutron activation cross section for the 127I(n,γ)128I reaction was experimentally measured and covariance analysis was used to quantify uncertainties and correlation coefficients. Theoretical calculations and corrections were made, and the measured cross sections were compared with experimental data and theoretical predictions from various databases.
