Current-Induced Spin Torques on Single GdFeCo Magnetic Layers

David Cespedes-Berrocal et al.

Summary: Spintronics utilizes spin-orbit coupling to produce spin currents and torques, often using heavy metals with large SOC. A new material architecture is introduced, demonstrating strong current-induced torques on ferrimagnetic layers due to Gd 5d states and interface engineering. This platform offers new opportunities for self-torquing single magnetic layers and generating spin currents.

First-principles calculations on the spin anomalous Hall effect of ferromagnetic alloys

Yoshio Miura et al.

Summary: The spin anomalous Hall conductivity (SAHC) of L1(0)-type alloys XPt (X = Fe, Co, Ni) was theoretically investigated, revealing that CoPt and NiPt exhibit relatively large values of |zeta|, greater than 1, due to the negative contribution of the spin-down-down component of AHC.

Anomalous spin Hall and inverse spin Hall effects in magnetic systems

Quantitative comparison of electrically induced spin and orbital polarizations in heavy-metal/3d-metal bilayers

Leandro Salemi et al.

Summary: Electrically induced out-of-equilibrium spin and orbital polarizations have been investigated in pure Pt films and Pt/3d-metal (Co, Ni, Cu) bilayer films using ab initio electronic structure methods and linear-response theory. The induced transverse orbital polarization is found to be significantly larger than the induced spin polarization, even in the absence of spin-orbit coupling.
