Tungsten-doped siliceous mesocellular foams-supported platinum catalyst for glycerol hydrogenolysis to 1,3-propanediol

Shijie Cheng et al.

Summary: By varying the mass ratio of the swelling agent and the template during the synthesis, a series of tungsten-doped Pt/W-MCFs catalysts were prepared, with Pt/W-1.5MCFs showing the highest 1,3-propanediol selectivity and activity. The synergy between Pt nanoparticles and single-sited tetrahedral (WO4)-O-V species at the metal-oxide interface is proposed to be responsible for the differences in catalytic performances among the Pt/W-MCFs catalysts.

Effect of Tungsten Species on Selective Hydrogenolysis of Glycerol to 1,3-Propanediol

Fengliang Wu et al.

Summary: Glycerol conversion to 1,3-propanediol is an economical and sustainable approach, but traditional catalytic reactions often result in the production of 1,2-propanediol. Currently, tungsten-containing bifunctional catalysts are considered as highly effective and atom-economical catalytic systems for selectively hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,3-propanediol.

Sustainable utilization of waste glycerol for 1,3-propanediol production over Pt/WOx/Al2O3 catalysts: Effects of catalyst pore sizes and optimization of synthesis conditions

Thanapha Numpilai et al.

Summary: The study focused on the conversion of waste glycerol to 1,3-propanediol using Pt/WOx/Al2O3 catalysts, and found that the catalyst pore sizes and operating conditions significantly influenced the process. It was observed that while small-pore catalysts may have advantages in terms of active metal dispersion and acidity, they could also lead to diffusional restrictions and hinder the exposure of catalytic active sites, resulting in lower product yields.

Construction and Structure-Activity Relationship of Immobilized Enzyme Reactor Based on Al-MOF-Derived Al2O3 with Hierarchical Structure

Xia Gao et al.

Summary: The contradiction between catalytic activity and stability of immobilized enzyme reactors has always been a challenge in enzyme technology. By utilizing Al-MOF-derived MHAl2O3 carrier modified with polydopamine, a new immobilized enzyme reactor with high catalytic activity and stability was successfully developed. This approach provides a promising solution for industrial enzyme applications.

Nickel-Nitrogen-Doped Ordered Macro-/Mesoporous Carbon Supported Ag Nanoparticles for Efficient Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Chunhui Mu et al.

Summary: Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction into high value-added chemical products is considered an effective strategy for addressing the environmental crisis caused by high CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Metal-nitrogen-doped carbon-based nanomaterials have shown promise as catalysts due to their selectivity and cost-effectiveness, although they face challenges like low Faradaic efficiency at high currents. Silver-based catalysts also exhibit good activity but struggle with achieving high selectivity without high overpotentials. The synergistic effect in multi-component systems presents a new idea for designing efficient electrocatalysts.
