Gender Gaps in Science: Systematic Review of the Main Explanations and the Research Agenda

Summary: The study reveals that research in the social sciences about gender gaps in science has significantly increased, categorized into five main types of explanation: student performance in STEM areas, influence of gender stereotypes and models, interests and educational-learning experiences, educational-occupational expectations and choices, and uneven advancement and performance in scientific careers.

The gender gap in highly prestigious international research awards, 2001-2020

Summary: From 2001 to 2020, there were significant gender disparities in the world's 141 most prestigious international research awards, with women receiving a lower share of awards, particularly in biological, computer, and mathematical sciences. Further investigation is needed to understand the factors contributing to this gender gap.
