Fractional Entropy of Multichannel Kondo Systems from Conductance-Charge Relations

Cheolhee Han et al.

Summary: Fractional entropy, such as Majorana zero modes or non-Abelian anyons, is a signature of nonlocal degrees of freedom. Although direct experimental measurements are challenging, indirect measurement through charge measurements using Maxwell relations is possible. The study focuses on multichannel charge-Kondo systems and suggests that Majorana and Fibonacci anyon quasiparticles are well developed and experimentally measurable in existing devices.

Andreev Reflection in the Fractional Quantum Hall State

Onder Gul et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully constructed graphene-based van der Waals devices with narrow superconducting niobium nitride (NbN) electrodes. The study reveals the coexistence of superconductivity and a robust fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state in these devices. Additionally, the study identifies a possible signature for crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) across the superconductor, separating two FQH edges.

Revealing universal Majorana fractionalization using differential shot noise and conductance in nonequilibrium states controlled by tunneling phases

Sergey Smirnov

Summary: This study shows that the differential shot noise and conductance in Majorana quantum dot devices are only universally fractional in ideal setups with one entangled Majorana mode. In realistic devices, where both Majorana modes are entangled, the values become sensitive to tunneling phases. However, the ratio of the shot noise to the conductance weakly depends on the phases and becomes fractional or integer depending on the separation of the Majorana bound states. For large bias voltages, this ratio becomes independent of the tunneling phases and the universal fractional Majorana value can be observed.

Superconducting Contacts to a Monolayer Semiconductor

Mehdi Ramezani et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the use of superconducting vertical interconnect access (VIA) contacts to a monolayer of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), with MoRe as the contact material, showing electron transport dominated by a single superconductor/normal conductor junction with a clear superconductor gap. Additionally, strongly coupled MoS2 regions to the superconductor exhibit resonant Andreev tunneling and junction-dependent gap characteristics, indicating a superconducting proximity effect.

Crossed Andreev reflection in topological insulator nanowire T junctions

Jacob Fuchs et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrates that crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) in a topological insulator nanowire T junction can be clearly observed within a wide parameter range, with perfect CAR occurring in a somewhat more restricted range. This phenomenon can be controlled by a magnetic field and is robust to disorder. Utilizing an effective 2D surface model allows for modeling of micron-sized systems typical of experimental setups, which may be computationally too heavy for 3D models.

Nonlocal thermoelectric engines in hybrid topological Josephson junctions

Gianmichele Blasi et al.

Summary: The study thoroughly investigates the thermoelectric performance of a topological Josephson nonlocal heat engine, exploring how different triggers affect the nonlocal thermoelectric effects and considering possible experimental nonidealities. It discusses the interplay between Doppler shift and Andreev interferometry for different operating regimes, and highlights high nonlocal Seebeck coefficients that could be detectable even against spurious local effects.

Majorana entropy revival via tunneling phases

Sergey Smirnov

Summary: This study focuses on measuring Majorana entropy to reveal the Majorana nature of an initial equilibirum state in a nanoscale device, dealing subsequently with nonlocal pair of non-Abelian Majorana bound states. Experimental results show that even with significant suppression of tunneling amplitude of one Majorana mode, Majorana entropy is ruined, emphasizing the importance of adjusting tunneling phases intelligently to successfully observe the Majorana plateau. Practical feasibility of appropriate Majorana entropy measurements is demonstrated with parameters achievable in modern labs.
