Ke Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposed a novel solution-processable ECP stacking scheme by co-processing a crosslinker with three primary ECPs, endowing the primary ECPs with solvent-resistant properties and allowing them to be sequentially deposited. By varying the film thickness of each ECP layer, a full-color palette can be constructed, and delicate multilayer patterns can be generated with photolithography, providing a new avenue for electrochromic printing and displays.

Summary: In this study, Sn-NiO films with superior electrochromic performance were prepared through a simple one-step magnetron sputtering process. By modifying the microstructure of the NiO film with Sn4+ ions, the grain size was refined, the electrochemically active surface was enlarged, and the diffusion of lithium ions was promoted, thus improving the electrochromic performances of the NiO film. The optimized Sn-NiO film showed outstanding electrochromic performances, including large transmittance modulation, high coloration efficiency, fast switching speed, and good cycling durability.

Highly Thermally Stable and Transparent WO3-SiO2 Gasochromic Films Obtained by an Automated Printing Method

Guohua Gao et al.

Summary: Although smart energy-saving windows have promising applications, such as electro-chromic, thermochromic, and gasochromic windows, they are still delayed due to the lack of suitable manufacturing methods. Printing methods have been widely studied for cost-effective electrochromic film deposition, but the porosity of gasochromic films limits the use of traditional inks. A novel WO3/SiO2 ink with suitable rheological characteristics for gasochromic windows was developed in this study by prehydrolyzing and condensing SiO2 in a neutral solution. By using automated printing methods, porous SiO2 skeletons supporting WO3 gasochromic films were synthesized, exhibiting high transmittance, solar energy shielding, and annealing stability.
